This and that! {freebies}

Hi friends!  I hope your back to school experience is going great!  My students are picking up quickly and we are “getting into the groove!”  This is a short post with some randomness!  Hopefully something you can use in your classroom! 🙂

This is a Chicka Boom magnet match activity I have in my literacy centers.  Simple and easy prep!  Just print out the sheet of your choice, attach to a cookie sheet using contact paper, and get together the needed magnets!  Easy peasy and  FREEBIE! Click the above snap shot to grab the freebie!

In math we are working with numbers 1-4.  In this activity students matched snap cubes to the given number.  After they counted out the correct number of snap cubes I had them draw them on the mat.  There are three different versions of the mats that we used!  To grab the mats as a FREEBIE click the above picture!

The above snap shot is after a few head banging on the tables hours! HA!  Well, we will be implementing Everyday Counts calendar math and yeah it broke my heart to not have a pretty and coordinating calendar wall!  I tried my best to make it match…there will be additional pieces added throughout the year!  I love the concepts behind it all and I’m sure my students will benefit from the program 🙂

Our classroom schedule has changed slightly from last year.  This year we end our day with math from 2:00-3:00.  The last ten minutes of the hour the kids have been using all of our new and exciting active play math centers.  See below for more information on these! We are transitioning from a free play to a more structured math center.  I will soon start assigning the math centers and coordinating them around math intervention groups.  Here are some snapshots of the kiddos having a blast {literally!}.

Number Block: Students place number cards/dot cards in order!

Driving Around Town: Students read a game card and “drive” that many cars to the location.

Fishing for Numbers:  My husband made the fishing pole for me! It is a dowel rod from Lowes.  Just noticed that this picture made it look blurry sorry about that!  Students use the magnet at the end of the string to fish a number. They then state their number and pass it on to their friend.

Going Bananas:  This is a fun game I purchased from Oriental Trading.  I taped the numbers on the front.  The students state their number when they get it in.

All of these activities and MORE can be found in my Active Play Math Centers packet! You can see more about by clicking below!  It sells for $10 in my TpT store!

Well friends I’m going to sound like a crazy, but I am e-x-c-i-t-e-d because tomorrow is the real start to the NFL season! WOOO HOOO!  We purchased season tickets for the first time so hoping for a great season!  Tomorrow is an away game, but after that it’s game on!! haha!

Have a great week!  I will be starting guided reading groups so wish me luck and I will be sure to let you know how it goes! 🙂
