Are you the lucky duck? {a classroom management FREEBIE}

Alright friends it’s Monday and I am here with a quick classroom management freebie!  This is not an original idea I’m sure so I don’t take any credit for it!  I started this in my classroom a few weeks back and it’s being going great so I wanted to share with you!

It seems like you can never have
too many classroom management tools.
This is a cute and very effective tool I use in my own classroom.  Here’s how it works; pull 1-2 lucky duck
sticks from the cup.  Remind students
that they won’t know who the lucky is until after the task is complete.  I use this during a Daily 5 round, the
restroom, hallway trip, carpet time, and really any other time during your day
that students struggle to stay on task.
After the task is complete announce who the lucky duck{s} were and
decide if that student was successful.
Most teachers already have a reward system in their class in which these
lucky ducks can be rewarded.  If not here
are some ideas; move clip up, put in a stone, receive a “buck” or ticket, put
in a warm fuzzy, or one you might not have heard of before is to hit the “easy
button.”  I have found this tool to be
very effective in my classroom and who wouldn’t want to be chosen as the lucky
duck!   To construct you lucky ducks
simply print out the duck cut outs and glue/tape the to your Popsicle stick.  Write each name on a stick and
place in a cup/can.  Use the “are you a
lucky duck” label for your can/cup.

Also, I have uploaded Kindergarten Guided Reading Step by Step lesson plans: Week 2

Have a super week!  I will be back with ideas on writing captions!

  1. I think this is a great idea! It should keep students motivated to stay on task! I am a college student learning how to become a teacher. I love reading blogs to get ideas to help prepare me for my first year of teaching. Thank you for the adorable and fun classroom management tool!
