Kick off back to school with these engaging Bus Match-Ups that help students build beginning sound and letter-sound correspondence through four differentiated Science of Reading activities.

Start the school year with a fun, hands-on alphabet activity! These Back to School Bus Match-Ups help students strengthen phonemic awareness and letter-sound correspondence through an intentional progression that moves from hearing sounds to connecting sounds with letters.

🚌🏫✏️ Love seasonal themes? Find year-round phonics, math, and more in the Seasonal Lifetime Vault Bundle.

The first activity focuses entirely on sound-to-sound matching, allowing students to listen for beginning sounds and match pictures that start with the same sound. Because no graphemes are included, students can concentrate solely on hearing and comparing sounds, making it an excellent bridge into alphabet instruction and a perfect back-to-school phonemic awareness activity.

As students gain confidence, they progress through increasingly supportive alphabet activities that connect lowercase letters, uppercase letters, and beginning sound pictures.

To reinforce learning, every activity includes response sheets where students can either cut and paste their answers or practice writing the matching letters.
