This free CCVC and R-Controlled Words Encoding Pack supports students as they strengthen decoding, encoding, and phonemic awareness. Each activity follows a four-step process where students say the word, tap the sounds, map the phonemes into color-coded sound boxes, and write the word.
Students practice both CCVC words, which focus on blends with short vowels, and r-controlled words, where the presence of r changes the vowel sound. Color cues help students locate beginning, middle, and ending sounds while reinforcing spelling accuracy. These worksheets work well in small groups, as independent practice, or during intervention.
