This free Knowledge In-a-Click New Year’s Digital Slides resource brings listening comprehension, vocabulary, and knowledge-building together in an engaging 5-day routine. Built around Shanté Keys and the New Year’s Peas by Gail Piernas-Davenport, the slides help students deepen their understanding of both the story and New Year’s traditions.

  • Day 1: Students listen to the read aloud with minimal stops, collecting new “bits of knowledge” in their knowledge case.

  • Day 2: Vocabulary focus with kid-friendly definitions, real-life connections, and whole-body movements. Words include borrow, crisp, frantic, and pinch.

  • Day 3: Text-dependent comprehension questions at multiple levels, moving from recall to deeper inference.

  • Day 4: Vocabulary review and expanded learning about New Year celebrations around the world.

  • Day 5: Final vocabulary review, knowledge check, and assessment.

Optional printable practice sheets are provided for Days 1–4, making it easy to extend learning into small groups, independent practice, or homework.
