Free CVCe stretch tube cards. Students say the word, stretch the sounds with a tube, and write the silent e word.
These CVCe Stretch Tube cards bring movement into phonics practice. Students look at the picture, say the word, stretch out each sound using a pop tube, and then write the word on the card. This multisensory approach helps students segment and blend sounds while reinforcing spelling and decoding of vowel-consonant-e words.
Example: cube → /c/ (green), /ū/ (yellow), /b/ (red), silent e (orange)
Students stretch the tube as they say each phoneme, then blend the sounds back
Builds phoneme segmentation, blending, and orthographic mapping
Great for science of reading-aligned small-group instruction or centers
Includes writing practice for additional reinforcement
These cards pair physical engagement with phonics instruction, making silent e decoding both memorable and effective.
