Each 3-part set includes a complete reference card showing the number representation paired with its numeral. Students then find the corresponding individual representation card and numeral card to complete the three-part match. The matching color borders provide a built-in self-correcting element, allowing students to check their work independently.
Throughout the set, students encounter numbers represented in multiple ways, including fingers, dice, dominoes, ten frames, tally marks, and number sequences. Rather than simply memorizing numerals, students build an understanding that the same quantity can be represented in many different ways.
These cards work beautifully with a 3-part sorting tray, but a tray is absolutely not necessary! Students can simply arrange the three cards together directly on a tabletop, desk, or work mat. This makes the activity an easy, flexible math center that can be used with materials you already have in your classroom.
